The Freshmen Team
Last year I participated on the Roosevelt soccer team. In this blog I will talk to you about my experiences that I had while playing for that team. It was a really fun season and I am gladly going to play again in the upcoming years. Our coach was a man named Trevor Neary. He was a pretty serious coach but yet he was still funny. I liked this coach, because he knew what he was doing, and he got straight to the point with his expectations. He made sure that the team kept working hard and that we didn't mess around. Which is a good thing, because when that occurs we don't get anything done. Whether it's something fun or not. Our coach was also a good sport, because he knew how to take jokes. One of my favorite parts of the season were the good times we had and the jokes we made. I liked arguing about our rival pro clubs as well. A lot of my team-mates still remember his legendary quotes. It's probably best they remain private though.
The team was actually very talented and we had many good players. Many people including myself had high expectations for our season. We were expected to win most of our games, because we had such a great roster. But we didn't start of to well at the beginning of the season. We lost our first few games and I was pretty shocked/surprised. The reasons we lost though were, because we weren't really sure what positions each player should play at first. This is something that takes time to get right so we didn't have that much chemistry. We had a lot of defensive problems, because of this and you could see during that games that we struggled, because of that. There was also a lot of blaming that took place at the beginning of the season which did nothing but bring the team down. But it stopped as the season progressed which was good. After we played the first few games, we learned to play as a team better. We got our lineup fixed and we started playing better. Then we went on a winning streak for about eight games, We were doing really well, then we lost some games and won some more. I don't really remember our season record, but I thought it was pretty good. I just wish we could have had a rematch against the teams we lost to, because if we played them again we probably would have won.
Overall it was a really good experience, we made new friends, memories, and experiences, We also did some fun things as a team as well. We had some pretty fun team dinners where we could just eat and chill, we also played some soccer just for fun. Another thing we did was volunteer together. We went to this woman's house who lived in a really dirty surrounding, and we helped clean it up. It felt really good getting to help someone else out, and it was fun to do it with my team. I wish we could've done more of that though. I'm looking forward to playing outdoor again this year and making some more great experiences.
I've also had fun making these blogs in which I have learned a lot from. This gives me the opportunity to express how I feel and share it with others. Blogs are important, because I can share my opinions and thoughts with others who are also interested on the topic of soccer. This blog provides a good environment to do that and to connect with some other people whom I share interests with. My favorite blog was probably the one I read on Netflix TV shows. I am interested in that as well, and I want to learn about good shows so that I can watch them. This is why blogs are a great thing and I'm happy I got to make some.
